Arie Grace

On March 8, 2013, Arie joined our family infusing the Oler crew with her vibrant

sass and adding a unique flair to the medical world - diagnosed with congenital

CMV (cytomegalovirus)  and secondary spastic quad Cerebral Palsy, along with

a multitude of other complex conditions. Arie faced 56 nights in the

hospital her first two years of life due to feeding intolerance and other

gastrointestinal challenges. At 18-months, she had a g-tube placed to support her

weight gain, and from ages 3 to 5, she thrived remarkably.

On September 9, 2020, Arie was admitted to Mercy Hospital to embark on her

journey with TPN and lipids. Seeking the best care, she and her parents consulted

with specialists at Colorado Children's Hospital, where the team confirmed her

Small Bowel Dysmotility and aligned with the treatment plan established by her

St. Louis doctors. While the long-term use of TPN and lipids posed risks, Arie

faced everal hospitalizations due to bacterial infections with her characteristic

resilience. In November 2022, her port was removed due to a severe infection,

and no new port was placed due to the damage to her blood vessels.

December 2022 and January 2023 were spent enjoying a lot of family time,                                                                                                                    watching her brother and sister play basketball, painting nails,        snuggles and                                                                                                               family movie nights. Arie spent this precious time at home with her favorite people.

In early February, Arie was admitted for her final stay, where she  spent her days                                                                                                             coloring, confidently directing everyone with her famous pointer finger, playing hide                                                                                                        and seek, going for walks with mom and dad, having slumber parties, and enjoying                                                                                                           visits from family, friends, and her beloved pup, Oakley.

On February 14, 2023, a day dedicated to love, Arie went to be with Jesus. Arie was                                                                                                        the most inclusive person you could ever meet, inspiring the creation of the Love Like                                                                                                       Arie Memorial Foundation to share her love and support families in similar situations.           Arie loved deeply and wholeheartedly, and everyone deserves to experience her extraordinary love.
